How to Use Clock Code Decoder
To use the Clock Code Decoder, follow these steps:
1. Encode Mode: Enter plain text in the input field. The tool will convert each letter into a time token, joining letters with hyphens and separating words with a vertical bar. For example, 'Hello' becomes '8:00 AM-5:00 AM-12:00 AM-12:00 AM-3:00 PM'.
2. Decode Mode: Paste time tokens into the input field. The tool will convert them back into letters. For example, '8:00 AM-5:00 AM-12:00 AM-12:00 AM-3:00 PM' becomes 'Hello'.

Clock code works best as a puzzle mechanic, not as security. It is ideal for escape rooms, scavenger hunts, classroom cryptography exercises, and novelty clues. How the Mapping Works
The alphabet is split across the clock face in two passes. A-L map to 1:00 AM through 12:00 AM, and M-X reuse the same hour positions on the PM side. Y and Z fill the leftover half-hour slots at 12:30 and 12:45. When encoding, the tool keeps letters in order, inserts hyphens between letters, and uses a vertical bar between words. Non-letter characters pass through unchanged. On decoding, each token is matched back to a letter, and the tool redraws the matching clock faces for verification.
Tips and Limitations
Keep the separator format consistent: hyphens for letters and a vertical bar for word breaks.
Remember that the AM or PM marker carries half the alphabet, so dropping it makes the code ambiguous.
Short phrases make better clues than long paragraphs because the pattern becomes obvious quickly.
This is a novelty substitution system and is easy to reverse once the mapping is recognized.
